Hi there, my name is Jody Overland and I own and operate JOAL Media LLC, a publishing firm comprising several online magazines covering travel, pop culture and entertainment. My educational background is in mathematics, BSc at Framingham State College – and economics, MA and PHd at Brown University – after graduation I worked as professor of economics at University of Colorado, Denver. Moving into the private sector, my work took me all around the globe. About 15 years ago I decided to apply my research skills to my love of travel and the world of entertainment and become a ‘blogger.’ What began as a part time hobby grew into a full time business!

I have been an avid traveller for decades having been almost everywhere for either pleasure or business, combining the two whenever possible. From India to Costa Rica, Australia to Europe and many places in between I’ve spent literally years of my life travelling and bring a wealth of practical advice and experience to others who want to avoid the pitfalls and enjoy the best opportunities when on the go.

Travel New Paths (TNP), living under the JOAL umbrella is my professional foray into travel blogging. At JOAL we are open minded and welcome a range of professional writers who themselves live and work internationally – from USA and Canada to Africa, Europe and Asia our staff provide top quality articles that address the issues that matter most.
